Case Study: A Remote Family Move from Asia to Surrey
MA is a foreign national living in Asia and instructed us in the spring to find a house close to the school his younger child would be attending that September, and with easy access to transport links for his eldest child to get to university in Scotland. It needed to be the perfect base to relocate his family to the UK for at least the next ten years.
The Criteria
A family home within walking distance of the school and close to public transport so that the family could move around with ease. The house needed to be completely ready for them to hit the ground running when they arrived in the UK — from bed linen to crockery.
Our client travelled frequently and was based abroad for the duration of the search, so was only able to view a few times in person. Consequently, all the viewings were conducted by video calls — either live walk-arounds or pre-recordings of the house — and then sent to the client and his family to review in their own time.
Finding & Securing The House
With a small search area to concentrate on, we were able to identify a number of on and off-market houses that ticked most of the boxes. The final choice, however, was a property in a peaceful, private location close to the school and town centre but backing onto open countryside. The house was decoratively tired and required some interior rejigging to make it suitable for family life.
We put together a team of trusted partners — including interior designers and builders —who, with regular video meetings with our clients, transformed the house into their perfect home.
The family was able to arrive with only their suitcases and move into a house that had been completely fitted out, ready for them to start their new life in the UK.
