Downsizing in Surrey: A Recent Case Study
KC is a widow who loved her family home, but following the sad loss of her husband realised that with her children about to fly the nest, the house, along with the swimming pool, tennis court and outbuildings, was too big to maintain. She wanted something that had the same charm of her current house, in the same area, but on a smaller scale.
Criteria
Having lived in the area for a long time our client had a wide circle of friends locally, so she was keen to stay close by while having better access to the A3 so she could go to London to see her grown children more easily. She also wanted to be able to continue to have friends and family to stay, so wanted interior space and a garden suitable for entertaining, but on a more manageable scale.
On The Ground
As with many downsizers, it was a very emotional journey for our client as she looked to move on from her family home. However, with our help and the support of family and friends who often accompanied us on viewings, we managed to turn a challenging house hunt into something positive, exciting and fun.
Finding & Securing The House
We ended up introducing her to an off-market property only a few miles from her family home that she fell in love with the minute she saw it. A smaller version of what she was currently living in with a beautifully maintained, mid-sized garden, the property was owned by an interior designer meaning that it had been done up beautifully and she could move straight in.
